Proof through the night

Irma Thomas and Allen Toussaint were laying down the national anthem in the Superdome, and a cute blond girl looked up, saw herself on the Jumbotron, and started to bounce up and down and point.

She remembered what was going on and put her hand back on her heart about half a heartbeat before her cute blond friend elbowed her in the ribs.

I told you those folks had class.

The Francophones in the Gulf are known for saying laissez le bon temps roulez. And to the Greys and the Parks and the Carters and B, here's to any return of the good times.

But up north, they have another saying.

Je me souviens.

If it's been about a year since you remembered the rebuilding and relief charities, isn't it about time you wrote another check?

That was one of the most beautiful versions of the anthem I've ever heard. Beautiful, simple and honest.

And, speaking of music, Sweetie says if every Super Bowl halftime show was like the opening with Greenday and U2 she'd be very happy.

And what a kick ass game, too!

Go Saints!
